I am an ecosystem ecologist with interest in aquatic habitats. My research focuses on three themes: 1) the dynamics of energy and material cycles in food webs, 2) the patterns in ecological structure and processes across space and time, and 3) the interconnections of environmental change, biodiversity, and ecosystem function. To address these topics, we scale patterns across levels of biological organization--from cells to landscapes--and integrate observations from field studies, both small-scale (e.g, mesocosms) and ecosystem-level experiments with simulation models and novel statistical techniques.
