Dr. Amie Lund received her Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences, with an emphasis in Toxicology, from the University of New Mexico. Dr. Lund completed a post-doctoral fellowship at Lovelace Biomedical Research Insitute where she established a research program in investigating the pathways involved in detrimental outcomes of air pollution-exposure in the cardiovascular system, which was funded by an NIH F32 NRSA post-doctoral fellowship and K99/R00 Pathway to Independence Award. While Dr. Lund's research interests are broadly focused on understanding how inhaled air pollutants can contribute to different disease states in the body, current student-led research projects include investigating pathways involved in the progression of vascular disease, blood-brain barrier disruption, neuroinflammation, and Multiple Sclerosis. Additionally, we are investigating how exposure to air pollutants alter signaling in adipocytes that may contribute to obesity, and also change gut and/or lung microbiome profiles leading to systemic inflammation and inflammatory-disease states.
Dr. Lund is currently teaching Pharmacology (BIOL 4250/5150) and General Toxicology (BIOL 4370/5370).
In addition to research and teaching, Dr. Lund enjoys spending time with her family & friends, traveling, and outdoor activities (biking, hiking, camping, etc.).
Dr. Lund teaches the following classes:
BIOL 4250/5150 - Pharmacology
BIOL 4370/5370 - General Toxicology
