BioFrontier Seminar Social- Begins January 18, 2019 thru April 26, 2019

Every Friday the BGSA organizes a social gathering right before the BioFrontier seminar of the day, between 2:30 and 2:55 pm. It is the perfect opportunity for Graduate Students to interact with other students but also with faculty, staff, and the invited speaker of the week. Coffee, tea, and snacks are provided every week; Pizza and popcorn are provided once a month. Come join us and don't miss the opportunity to meet your peers!

In Fall 2018, the BGSA launched a campaign to reduce the amount trash produced by UNT, particularly during the BioFrontier Seminar Social. People attending the seminar social are encouraged to bring their own coffee mugs. No cups will be provided.

16th Annual Graduate Research Day (April 11-12, 2019)

Fall Fest 2018

On November 16th, the BGSA hosted its annual Fall Fest. For the first time, it was hosted in the EESAT patio. There was food, drinks, and music, as well as other planned activities. Attendees had a chance to display their artistic talents in our Pumpkin Picasso competition (decorating pumpkins), and/or their ability to score in the Cornhole Bean Bag Toss Tournament. There was great prices for winners. Stay tuned for the Fall 2019 celebration!

Graduate Research Day (2018)

For the past 15 Years, the University of North Texas Biology Graduate Student Association has hosted an Annual Research Day. Inviting students and faculty involved in current research to present their findings to the public. Awards are given for best presentation, poster and research related art work. This event was sponsored by UNT Provost Office, Office of the Vice President, Department of Biological Sciences, The College Of Science and ThermoFisher Scientific! A special THANK YOU to Thermofisher Scientific for their Swag Bags and monetary donations.

Graduate Research Day (2017)

The Biology Graduate Student Association hosted Graduate Research Day on February 17, 2017. Dr. Eric Olson, member of the National Academy of Sciences, and Professor and Chairman of Molecular Biology at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas, delivered the keynote address 'Applications of Gene Editing and Regenerative Medicine for the Correction of Muscle and Heart Disease' on this occasion. Thirty-five talks/posters were presented by graduate students who competed for awards in two categories, oral and poster.

Graduate Student Mixer (2016)

The Biology Graduate Student Association hosted its annual mixer on October 5, 2016. The goal of this event was to promote communication between graduate students, post docs and faculty, and provide an outlet for them to know each other, discuss their work, exchange ideas and become aware of future opportunities in academia and industries. It also provides an opportunity for new students to meet their colleagues and find out from their peers about graduate life and resources at UNT.
